Count like a computer

Introduction to binary

There’s an old joke among computer scientists:

“There are 10 types of people in the world. Those who understand binary, and those who don’t”

If you’d like to be one of those people that understands what those 0s and 1s mean, this is where you start. At the end of this 2-3 hour workshop, you will know:

  • How the 0s and 1s are represented within a computer
  • How to count in binary up to 15
  • How to convert between decimal and binary
  • How to do the binary dance

Suitable from the age of 8 up, this workshop covers essential key stage 3 computing requirements, as well as being an excellent introduction to the data representation element of GCSE Computer Science
